INTERRAIL PASS: THE BEST WAY TO TRAVEL EUROPE IN 2 WEEKS!
Before I tell you why the Interrail pass is the best way to travel Europe in 2 weeks, you might want to know: what the heck is an Interrail pass? Well, let me tell you, it is the best way for you to plan a multi-country Europe trip, and here is why!
What is Interrail, and why choose them for a Multi-Country Europe Trip?
The Interrail pass is basically a travel card that allows you, after purchase, to discover Europe by train with flexibility and at a relatively low cost.
This pass gives you the possibility to travel through 33 European countries using the different national train companies. The concept is really easy—and well-thought-out, if you want my opinion: with only one train ticket, you can get on and off European trains for a defined period of time, making it the perfect way to plan a multi-country Europe trip!
You have two different options when it comes to booking your ticket for your multi-country Europe trip.
The first one, the Global Pass 5 days, will allow you 5 travel days over a period of a month, and the second one, the Global Pass 7 days, will allow you 7 travel days over the same period. Both passes also include a day of departure and a day of return that are not counted in the number of travel days, so you can leave and return home without using up your travel days.
Both tickets cost less than $300, and believe me, when it comes to traveling by train in Europe, that’s a bargain! Before jumping headfirst into it and booking your tickets, make sure to read about all the additional fees that can occur. But trust me, I’ve traveled with them before, and I saved a ton of money!
OTHER BENEFITS OF TRAVELING WITH AN INTERRAIL PASS!
As previously mentioned, the Interrail pass can save you a ton of money on your multi-country Europe trip. But wait, there’s more!
Interrail has partnered with various cities to offer additional discounts on museums, ferries, and public transportation. Be sure to explore these partnerships to save even more during your European adventure.
Still not convinced that Interrail is the best way to explore Europe by train? Here are a few more advantages that might help you decide:
European trains are known for being comfortable, relatively clean, and efficient. Of course, there can be occasional hiccups, but generally speaking, traveling by train is a fantastic way to get around the continent. What I love most is the change of scenery! European trains pass through areas you might never think to visit, and the landscapes and villages you’ll see are truly beautiful.
Here’s one more reason to choose train travel over flying: Most European train stations are located right in the heart of the cities you want to visit. Think about it—no busy airports, no hassles finding transportation from the airport to the city center, and no long security lines. For a stress-free journey, the train is without a doubt the best way to explore Europe.

Best tips to Travel Europe in 2 Weeks with Interrail!
Traveling with an Interrail pass is definitely the best way to travel Europe in 2 weeks, but to make the most of it, there are some tips you should know. Whether it is to save money, plan your itinerary, or have the best cultural experience, there are some things I want to share with you!
Here are my ultimate tips to make the most of your multi-country Europe trip with Interrail!
MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR TRAVEL DAYS
- How to plan your travel days?
I understand that you will probably want to make the most of your multi-country Europe trip, but be wise when it comes to planning your travel days. If you try to visit too many destinations, you’ll end up exhausted and spending more time on the train than actually exploring Europe.
I suggest that you spend at least two full days in each of your destinations. Not only will this give you time to properly rest, but it will also allow you to discover more of each city or village in your itinerary.
USE THE INTERRAIL DISCOUNTS
- Look for special offers!
One of the best benefits of your Interrail pass—other than being able to travel by train throughout Europe, of course—is that they have partnered with some cities. So, before paying full price for museums, public transportation, tourist attractions, and more, check if your pass offers any discounts!
To ensure you don’t miss out on any discounts, check local websites or visit the tourism offices at your destinations. They will be happy to help you find the information you need!
- Make the most of youth and senior advantages!
If you are under 25 or over 60, you might be able to get additional discounts with your Interrail pass. So make sure to check this out and save even more money!
FOODIE TIPS WHEN TRAVELING WITH INTERRAIL
- Eat like a local!
If you are a foodie, you already know that the best way to explore Europe‘s culinary scene is to eat like a local. Skip the expensive and touristy restaurants, and instead, discover the small, hidden cafés to try the best local food at the best cost.
- Visit local markets!
Local food markets are the best spots to try local cuisine and immerse yourself in the local atmosphere. Just take a look at local dishes online and head to the markets to try them all. I promise you, there is no better way to discover food during your Interrail trip!

DISCOVERING THE DIFFERENT CULTURES ON YOUR EUROPEAN TRIP
- Attend local shows and events!
Whether it is a concert, a festival, a dance, or a theater show, attending local events can really immerse you in the local culture. The expression of art is different in every country, and not only will it help you discover new cultures, but who knows, you might find something you love that you didn’t know existed!
- Learn the basics of the local language!
Something I couldn’t urge you more to do when traveling to a country that speaks a different language than yours is to learn the basic words. Not only is it a sign of respect for the locals, but it might also make you feel more included and help you start conversations with locals to learn more about their culture and way of living!
Plus, who doesn’t like to learn new things?
HOW TO FIND THE BEST PRICES FOR YOUR ACCOMODATIONS
- How to save money on accomodations?
In order to save money on your accommodations during your multi-country Europe trip, there is no secret: you need to check different websites—such as Booking, Airbnb, Hostelworld—and find the best offer. The key is to book as early as you can. The best offers always sell out first, so if you want to save money, book early!
If you have a tight budget, I highly suggest booking a bed in a youth hostel. It’s a great way to meet fellow travelers. Who knows, you might make friends that will last a lifetime on your Interrail trip!
PLAN YOUR ITINERARY CAREFULLY
- Do not only visit big cities!
The great thing about the Interrail pass is that trains travel through even the smallest villages in the countryside. So make the most of it and stop in these lesser-known places! Visit the most secluded spots and discover what life is like outside the European capitals. Believe me, exploring these hidden gems is the best way to explore Europe!
- Be flexible!
When it comes to traveling, planning is just as important as staying flexible and open to changes. You never know what might come up, so if something unexpected happens, just adapt and adjust your plan!
TRAVELING LIGHT
- Do not overpack!
I know this is a pretty common travel tip, but it’s even more important when traveling by train with an Interrail pass. On the train, you’ll need to handle your luggage, store it yourself, and walk to and from train stations across cities. And that at least five times…
So be smart when packing and bring only what you need. If you can travel with a backpack, it’s even better!
PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS
- Take photos and capture memories!
The truth is, the Interrail experience is unique. It’s not just about traveling; it’s a way of traveling. Exploring Europe by train is something you’ll remember for the rest of your life. So take photos of the places you visit, as well as the little moments you want to cherish forever.
When I was traveling with Interrail, I had a 35-hour train journey to get back home. Believe me, spending 35 hours on a train is something I will always remember!

HOW TO NAVIGATE YOUR DIFFERENT DESTINATIONS
- Walk, walk, walk!
The best way to discover a city or village, in my opinion, is to walk! That’s how you’ll see the most of your destination and find places you didn’t even think about.
However, if for some reasons you can’t walk around the city and need to use public transportation, check if you can get any discounts with your Interrail pass to save some money!
